Kinnwood Central School (formerly Woodside School) is located in the town of Forest, which is close to Lake Huron. As a direct result of the integration with the Indian children from Kettle Point Reserve, Woodside was opened in 1962 in which grades six, seven and eight were taught. Due to an increase of Native students attending, a six room addition was completed in 1970. The latest addition being the renovation of the design and technology centre in 1994. In 1995 the Native students moved to their own school on the reserve.

Kinnwood Central is presently a Grade JK to 8 school and has a population of 380 students. The new name Kinnwood is derived from KINN from Kinnaird, WOOD from Woodside and CENTRAL from Forest Central school after the consolidation of the three schools. We are now part of Lambton Kent District 10 School Board. Mrs. Angie Barrese is the principal.

Undertaking the two million dollar project was the architect Jorden & Cook and contractor D.Grant & Sons. The major features of this project included a 3500 sq. ft. gymnasium, 4 new classrooms for family groupings and primary students. The old gym has been turned into an ultra-modern library facility.
